(Des)poseer su propia tierra: una lectura ecocrítica de Calcutta de Shumona Sinha

Nuestro estudio tiene como objetivo analizar la novela Calcutta (2014) de la autora franco-india Shumona Sinha (1973) desde una perspectiva ecocrítica. A través del espacio geográfico y simbólico de Calcuta, así como de las experiencias de sus personajes, Sinha pone de relieve la violencia directa y estructural ejercida sobre la naturaleza, sobre la propia ciudad y sobre sus habitantes. Lo que emerge es una crítica de los dualismos de dominación y poder (capitalismo/socialismo, Norte/Sur, Occidente/Oriente), reflejadas en la explotación tanto de los recursos naturales como de los imaginarios culturales en beneficio de intereses extranjeros, mientras que las poblaciones locales quedan relegadas a soportar las consecuencias climáticas, económicas y sociales.
